Hello All

I just thought it might be a good idea to have a new thread as Christmas and New Year are catching us up very quickly.

I appreciate that as we get nearer the time people will be busy with family time etc so I thought we could use this thread to discuss Christmas and the New year. Your plans for the festive period and hopes and aspirations for 2024.

There is one thing we all have in common and bonds us together Prostate Cancer - either as the person diagnosed/wife/partner/carer or family member and for some of us 2023 has been a tough old time. It's been a very good year though on the forum I think - everyone has pulled together and been very thoughtful, welcoming to new Community members and amazing at providing help, information and support to each other.- that's what we do.

On a personal note I would like to thank everyone who has helped me during the year - especially since I have had the "Community Champions" hat on - it's very much appreciated and long may it continue, thank you again!!. There will of course be the usual support throughout the festive season from the Community.

So on that note stay safe and have the best Christmas possible and a great 2024.

Best wishes - Brian and Mrs Millibob (Lorraine).

  • Thanks all for your Travel Insurance suggestions.  These "compare" sights don't want anything to do with you when you start on what's wrong with you.

Brian we will give the forum a go.

  • Here we go again ladies and gentlemen, another year of appointments, scans and test interrupted by waiting, happy New year.

  • Hello

Ah yes - as we enter 2024 - steps back - I have NO outstanding medical appointments. I know I have my 6 monthly PSA in February and my LAST Hormone Injection in June - but as it stands - No appointments.

Happy New year to you and yours.

  • Ulls, Brian,

Let's not talk about doctors going on strike.

I have about 3 appointments already this year, plus being on the waiting list for "Talking Therapies".  By the time I get an appointment I won't need it.

Or is that the new strategy from the NHS, keep you waiting that long, you won't need the appointment!

    Cynical??? Me!!!

    Steve (SteveCam)

  • You two are trying to make me jealous, I've got 3 appointments already this month, but good news I've been moved back to 8 week's between PSA checks since starting Steroids.

  • Starting the New Year on a Positive note!

On 15th February (touchwood) I will celebrate 2 years in Remission.  I can't see it not happening, my PSA was 0.2 last August...so...Woo-Hoo!!!

    Steve (SteveCam)

  • Excellent, long may you stay in remission.

  • You know considering what we've all been through we've a lot to be grateful for - we are all still here at the start of a New Year - we have our health (with restrictions)  and our families --

We are 3 grumpy old gits - but it's great to be alive!!
