Whilst my hubbie had his chemo I sat in the warmth and comfort of Maggie's center based at the hospital. I was so well looked after. Whilst hubbie was having his last chemo session I bought some raffle tickets to support the wonderful service they offer, not only for the person with cancer but their loved ones as well. Today hubbie had a phone call to say that he had won a men's hamper in the draw. How lovely is that. Can't wait to go and pick it up. If you have a centre like this near you go and check them out. They really are amazing.

  • Hello   To quote my old mum - bless her

"If she fell out of the Co-Op she would land in the dividend".

Maggie's centres are amazing and are a support centre (a charity too) for anyone affected by cancer. They are located around the country and all offer a number of services - meetings, counselling, support, courses and even just a cup of tea and a listening ear.

To find your local Maggie's centre

  • There are No Maggies Centres in the big county of Lincolnshier and I have asked Maggies if there will be... and the reply was they guess not. due to ULHT not been to keen to have one. As thoes who live in Lincolnshire know there is no or very little help for thoes who have Cancer in Lincolnshire.

  • Hello

That's not good at all, something I wasn't aware of and I am based in Oldham so it's not local to me. I just did a search of the "in your area" for Lincolnshire on our web pages and here's the link to what help I have found:

    https://www.macmillan.org.uk/in-your-area/index.html?latitude=52.9451889&longitude=-0.1601246&location=Lincolnshire&keyword=&radius=30&tridionpromocount=0&nationalorganisationcount=0&nationalresultcount=0&page=1

If there's nothing there for you it's possible our support line on 0808 808 00 00 may have some further information about local groups.

    I hope this helps.

    Best wishes - Brian.

  • Hi Shar

Well done, things are looking up, may the both of you continue with some good fortune, you both and every carer including my lovely wife deserve it.

  • Hi Les, if your not too far from Worksop there's a cancer charity called Aurora Wellbeing who in my opinion, are as good as Maggies. I hope this helps, take care, Eddie

  • Eddiel thanks for you reply. That is a bit too far for mt .. thenk you

  • Hi Les, thought it was a long shot but worth a try. MAGGIES, only been going for 3 or 4 weeks Leeds, was there today, always take a couple of large homemade cheesecakes which i left  on the worktop as i had a quick visit see my cardiologist. Back in 30 minutes, they never even saved me a slice,
