Has anyone had a penile implant?

It's been suggested as an option for me after none of the ED medications worked after my cancer treatment and orchidecomy has left me unable to gain an erection.

However it's such a big step and I wondered if anyone had gone for it. I'd like to speak to someone who has undergone the procedure and not just advice from specialists.

  • Good Morning

I ran a search of the Community and drew a blank looking for "Penile Implants" and to be honest I can't remember any posts from anyone who has had one.

The other day I was reading this from the NHS - I don't know if you have read it or if it will be of any help.

    NHS - Penile Prosthesis.

I hope someone comes forward who has had this treatment.

    Best wishes - Brian.

  • Hi, thanks for replying.

I've read all the data but really want to speak to someone who's had one. Reading an NHS leaflet doesn't tell you how it feels. Is there thick scarring, a lot of discomfort, does it still look like your original penis etc.

  • Hello

Just rechecked our search function and drew another blank so I don't think we have anyone on the Community who has gone down that path.

You could try the community on Prostate Cancer UK or Cancer research UK.

    Best wishes - Brian.

  • As nobody has messaged.  a very close friend has  had a coloplast penile implant   He stated “ the  implant surgery is hell and takes a while to heal  but results are exactly what I wanted .”  He was explaining to my OH .

Hope this helps a bit . He agreed for me to share his views .

  • Hi Starrystar2

So my story trauma, bend prohibiting intercourse age 41, I did not have ED. Advised incorrectly to have inplant. Inplant surgery lost 2 inches in erect length and it takes some getting used to having a semi erect penis full time.  After a couple of years was desperate for improvement so decided on a 3 piece inplant with pump inserted in scrotum. Surgery No better really although easier to play sports etc due to the lack of semi permanent erection. The pump broke after 8 years  so I needed further surgery. My Mrs wanted the semi rigid back because she didn't like the mechanical nature of sex with essentially an inflatable penis. Problem is after 3 surgeries and all the scar tissue my penis is not as hard as it used to be as all the tissue is squashed by the cylinders. I've spent a fortune!!!  Research, use an expander pre surgery for at least a year so they can get the biggest implant in there as possible then pray my friend. There is a length and girth model now too ask about that, I advise taking it as the length loss is devastating to wake up to. All the best with it
