Does this mean I'm going to have to watch Eastenders! (prostate cancer story line)

  • Haven't watched any soap episode for many a year (& have too many other things to do to start watching again), so can someone put me in the picture as to how the story started to unfold?  Did they keep showing Alfie getting up in the middle of the night for a pee? Wink

  • Yep the “Khazi” has been mentioned.

    LWink

  • So did he go to the doc because of getting up in the night for a wee and did the doc do a psa test and/or examination?Didn't happen to my OH.  Tests .'not really reliable' and 'you don't really want an examination, do you?'  One year on here we are with advanced prostate which has spread throughout.  Grrr.....  No good promoting awareness if nothing is done by the gp.

  • I started to watch it for the first time in years and unless I misheard, he went to A and E because he'd been hit on his side and they did a CT scan. This showed something on his prostate so he had a PSA and MRI. I'm still working my way through the episodes, but so far everything seems to have been done in a strange order. As my husband had to wait for a CT scan appointment I was surprised that Alfie Moon got one at an A and E appointment for what appeared to be a bruise.

    Did I miss something?

  • no that’s it . Starting to unfold in an interesting way …

    LThinking

  • Yeah I just got to the episode where he went for a biopsy and mri on same day.

  • That is an awful response from the GP. It is often hard for men to go to the doctors and then to get a response like that.

  • Missed that one, apart from making people more aware of PC, it would be more true to life to see Alfie, aware that he has PC and struggling to be seen for months. Then tie Steve Barclay to a chair and make him watch all episodes.

  • Thats so bad. Slight frown

  • To be fair, my husband’s only delay was getting the GP to agree to him having a PSA test. Once he got that everything went quite quickly, even though it didn't seem like it at the time.

Not wanting to get into politics but I have had far more negative experiences with the NHS pre 2010.

As for tying Steve Barclay to a chair, I quite like the idea, but not for the same reason you have in mind.
