Hi guys.
I've originally had my diagnosis at gleason level 9 ( 4+5)and ridiculous psa at 228. After 3 months of hormone Treatment, my psa is at 14.7 and, blood test results allowing, I'm about to start trials for P.E.A.R.L.
My anxiety is through the roof, but I'd like to think I'm about due a break.. aren't we all. I'm not going to get a miracle cure at this late stage, but I'm willing to try anything that will result in better treatment for others.
In the meantime I'm keeping positive and I'm going to do a charity parachute jump, watch the damned and go on holiday...my point here being, Guys, don't stop doing you, just do it slower.
Hi
Have your staging ? Has the PC escaped from the gland and spread etc?
Please give us more details az things may not be as bad as you feel.
Regards
Stuart
Hi. Yes the bugger escaped and stuck to my lymph nodes. The main worry was being metastatic, which, fortunately, I have thus far avoided. I'm due to start rt anytime soon .
Bassplayer Have a look at the thread titled: "Journeyone - Radiotherapy". There's a lot of helpful tips there.
Hi, just found your post after searching for informaton about the PEARLS trial. My husband was diagnosed last November following a PSA of 182. His diagnosis is T3b N1 M1a Gleason 4+5 prostate adenocarcinoma
He has been asked if he wants to participate in the PEARLS trial and he is really unsure. How did you find the trial?
Thanks
Hi Annieuk75 a warm welcome to the forum, PEARL was an option for me leading up to treatment as i had advanced PCa with iliac "pelvic" lymph nodes left and right involvement, But a few weeks before it was due to start my cancer had spread so i was unsuitable, We decided on aggressive RT 70gy aimed at the whole pelvic region, which was successful. Best wishes to you and your husband. take care.
Eddie
Hi. I found the whole PEARLS trial very easy. It was part of my regular radiotherapy, I had one treatment per week as part of my month of treatment, that's it.
As a result my psa dropped to 14 and now, with regular medication, I am at 0.9 and still going down.
I'm tired, alot, my hip aches and I still get hot flushes( menopause I call it), but overall I am very happy with the way things are going.. if you are unsure, please ask his specialist about possible side effects...
Cheers
Tris
