This is for anyone who can't keep on the topic.  It's hard not to stray, but if we have 'no specific topic ' we can't go off topic.

It is good just to be able to wander and talk about other things.

I could have named it 'Waffle'.  Then I couldn't go off topic.

  • Allwayshope,

Re the rose I will ask you to see my reply to Worriedwife.  About going to Groups in the area.

Most of my life I have not mixed with others mostly due to the work which took up a lot of my time in my younger days later in life I mixed a little bit more but mostly kept to myself. and as i said Maureen and I kept to our selfs she had more friends due to her work and how friendly she was. At the moment I do not feel like mixing but I am sure I may do later on. I am going to see what this Gov gets upto at the end of October. As the thought of starting work again (Part time) is going through my mind.

Thank you and Worried wife for your ideas.

  • Hello Les, I do hope you will be able to post a photo of the Ask Maureen rose when it blooms? It sounds a lovely tribute to a lovely lady! Do you have a big garden? Do you enjoy gardening? I seem to have spent all summer gardening! I love being out there! I love growing things from seed. Towards the end of the season I start collecting seeds for the following year. I try to do my garden on a limited budget! I don’t have much room for growing things to eat and, until this year, have not had a lot of success! However, this year we’ve had ( in no particular order!) carrots, courgettes, French bean, runner beans, lettuce, tomatoes and rhubarb we suddenly have loads of apples ripening after years of virtually nothing on the tree and I have peppers growing!

I hope you will soon feel that you want some company! I don’t like to think of you sitting alone through the short but cold and dark days of winter and the long nights. We humans are social creatures and having others to talk to is good for us!
That said, I do recognise that some of us need other people more than others.

have a nice Sunday and don’t forget the pics of the rose!

  • Worriedwife.

I have quite a large garden

Most of my garden is down to grass but the flower beds seem to be getting bigger in size.  We used to have a Veg garden but two yeard on the trot we had cats enjoyiing the nice soil and ruined it we gave up the veg plot.

  • Having struggled with a lawn mower with only 3 wheels turning and the 4 th not moving, I have ordered my lawns to stop growing!! Fortunately my husband took over, sorted the wheel and carried on mowing. But …. It’s a chore!?Fortunately we don’t have too many problems with cats but I know the problems they can bring!

  • Les, so sorry to hear about Maureen.

Are you near Maggie's Centre?  They have lots of help and they do listen!  They hold Support Groups for all types of Cancer.  I currently attend Maggie's in Newcastle for their Prostate Cancer Support Group, which is held on the 4th Tuesday of the month.

The contact, the conversations are very helpful.  If there's a Maggie's near you, please give them a call.

Hope you can get your MRI bumped up a bit and you can plant your Rose Rose in honour of Maureen.

  • Hi WW and all,

Sorry, I have been a bit quiet of late but glanced at a few new posts. Did I tell you that R had a stroke six weeks ago, I really can't remember? Anyway, he was very lucky as fairly mild but had two weeks in Peterborough and then four weeks in St Lukes in Harborough - a brilliant facility for rehab.

He is now home and I managed an amazing week in Kos whilst he was still in hospital last week. The villa was amazing and the weather beautiful. The only down side was the mosquitos which decided I must taste like roast beef as they tucked into my flesh and I reacted quite badly to some of them.

I am now back home and so is R. In one day I had bloody sheets to wash, urine soaked clothes and then, after the hospital must have kindly given him some sort of high powered nitroglycerine to clear his constipation, we had the inevitable explosion. What a welcome home Scream

Our private morning carer is coming in for an hour in the morning to get him up, showered and dressed which avoids the arguments which I get. With me, it is "I feel awful, I'm tired, I don't want to get up, etc". When she arrives it is all smiles and laughs and gets up obediently Rage. He is now under the early discharge team for care at home so we have a bus load of people turning up for physio, therapy and an evening carer to get him into his pjs ready for the evening. He doesn't mess around with them either as they are time restricted and luckily quite bossy. If I try it, I am a nag so, of course, I can't win.

Whilst he was in hospital, he had an MRI on his brain to ascertain if it was an ischemic stroke, which it was. However, as suspected, they also found out he has chronic microvascular disease, which can lead to dementia and coicidentally, strokes. So yet another problem to contend with. Face palm

WW, soon as I can leave him, we'll have that coffee, as think too cold for icream at the moment yet again.

  • Gina, The early discharge team...  I thought that was when Richard came here!

Glad to hear he's doing better.  Let the carers do their thing.

Glad you got to go to Kos.  It's a long time since we were there, not that I can remember much about it, too much Ouzo and local wineWine glass .

We've just had a great break in Austria, weather was great, lots of nice mountain air...

    Take care.
