This is for anyone who can't keep on the topic. It's hard not to stray, but if we have 'no specific topic ' we can't go off topic.
It is good just to be able to wander and talk about other things.
I could have named it 'Waffle'. Then I couldn't go off topic.
Hi everyone, I know this thread hasn't been used for a long time... but here's something interesting for you all.
The Good Samaritan - A true story!!!
We were going to the 'Book Fair' at Tynemouth Metro Station'. Took ages to get parked. When we got out of the car I was bursting for a pee!!! It was about 10:40 so the pubs weren't open! Not a public toilet for miles!
I said I would try and hurry on, trying to find a café or something...
My legs were crossed now... and my walking was down to a crawl!
I thought "Any time now..."
When a cheeky thought went through my head...
I'm going to knock on someone's front door and ask if I could please use their toilet!!!
It took some courage!
But... I knocked...a man answered the door and I asked him..." I know this is cheeky, but, I have Prostate Cancer and I'm absolutely bursting for the toilet... could I please use yours???"
Expecting him to say" No", he said" Of course you can!"
I told him" You are a lifesaver!!"
The question is " Would you let a stranger use your toilet??"
Steve (SteveCam)
You can use our toilets anytime Stevecam .
OH was given a little card from MacMillan nurse which says
Due to my cancer treatment, I need urgent access to a toilet. Please can you help ?
it is worth having as he’s had to use it a few times at our local shopping mall . I’ve also picked up a radar key which is also handy.
hope your doing ok . We’re on holiday and its very hot & humid
Liz & OH xx
Liz, I've still got my Macmillan card. If I'm ever walking past your house... and I need something... I'll knock on your door, thanks.
Still got my radar key, I never leave home without it.
Hope you're both doing fine. Where about a are you on holiday? The hot and humid sounds good!
Steve (SteveCam)
We are back in Providenciales, Turks & Caicos . Our friends live there and have been over seeing OH. And suggested we go over for a bit before the winter sets in . So that’s what we have done 3 weeks of bliss .
glad you have your radar key & card.
take care
Liz & OH xx
Hello Gina (Sidsmum)
I have just read your post in the other thread talking about Richard's mis fortune to be breaking his ribs - I am so sorry to read that. Are you OK and is there anything I or Macmillan can do for you?
It's strange - I have been busy doing something else this week off the Community but I was thinking there are a few people who we haven't had any communication from and I was going to kick start this thread in the morning.
So you lot out there - any one who hasn't posted for a while or wish to up date us with any news - here's your chance. If you are old enough (I am not being ageist) but can you remember the BT advertisement before the advent of mobile 'phones - "IT'S GOOD TO TALK".
Best wishes - Brian.

Hi Brian
good to see this thread being given a boost. Right now I’m on holiday and with a very variable internet access. I’ll be away until the end of the month so unlikely to be able to contribute as much as usual.
Gina and I meet up from time to time at a local garden centre where we avail ourselves of our loyalty card offer of one free hot drink per month! ( last of the big spenders!!! )
I hope all is going well for yourself and that you are not being plagued too much with ht side effects.
My husband is doing well. It took a long while for the ht side effects to wear off and he’s not been able to lose the extra weight he gained. Obviously, 6 monthly PSAs continue.
Love to all x
Hi Brian and thanks for restarting this thread. I would have posted my news on here but couldn't find the link to it.
I'm ok, just back and forth to the hospital most days to visit. Still waiting for a place where he can get rehab and physio as not getting anything at the moment. He's losing weight as doesn't like the food now having been there (Stamford) 2 weeks, after 2 weeks in Peterborough hospital.
It is quite sad that we separated nearly five years ago and it is our 50th wedding anniversary on Friday. Not sure if he is aware of the date, but he might remember when he hears the date on the news. I am making the most of a break from being a carer though, which was very needed.
Gina x
Gina, so sorry to hear about Richard , I hope you can get rehab and physio for him soon.
I'm in the middle of digitising my diaries. I'm up to the start of 2023, when I first thought of the "No Specific Topic" thread. It was after a post from yourself saying that I had posts taken down for not staying on topic.
Remember back to the start of 2023, Brian was finishing his Radiotherapy, Janet's husband was just starting his. The saga of the donuts from Morrisons began... I was starting to go through my troubles at work.
But...revisiting all this, I am looking down on it all from a different perspective. Still have my ups and downs.
Better go now, take care of yourself!!
