Recurring UTI after surgery.

I had an open radical prostectomy eleven weeks ago and a bilateral hernia repair. All went well and I am fully continent. My only problem is that I have repeated UTIs that 7 or 8 days after finishing a course of antibiotics flare up again. I wondered if anyone else had this problem after surgery?

I didn’t have a UTI after surgery Twitcher but just bumping you back up to the top again hoping someone with experience of this will answer. Hope you get sorted soon, sounds awful and very frustrating.

Thank you - it looks like others have not had this problem. I have an abnormally large bladder which may be affecting things.

Hi Twitcher. How long are the courses of antibiotics? My wife occasionally has cystitis and find that the usual 5 day course of antibiotics doesn't work and it recurs very quickly. However, a longer course is effective.

Yesterday is history, tomorrow is a mystery and today is a gift.

They are seven days but I think a longer course might do the trick!
