Hi,
I'm near 3 months post Radical Prostatectomy, currently still have a little stress related leakage but improving each day
age 65, currently have zero inclination re sexual activity, but I would like to try to permanently regain a little flaccid penis length to aid stand up peeing, stop the toilet seat getting wet, and to occupy the current excess of foreskin,

Might it be possible to recover my missing inch?

I see a range of stretchers and pumps on the market, not tried blue pills, not tried anything yet

I'm looking for advice from anyone who may have been in the same situation

  • Hi . I'm sorry to see you've not had any replies as yet from the members but hopefully someone may come back with an answer.

In the meantime why not give the nurses on the Macmillan Support helpline a call, (freephone number shown below) they may be able to offer some advice on the items you mentioned.

    Best wishes, B xx

  • I'm two years in this July. I think you just need to wait a bit for the missing length. Mine improved. I do still prefer to sit down while having a pee. I tried all the ED drugs and even the injections. Nothing was successful. But for the past six months or so I've been taking low dose ED drugs on a daily basis and I think this has improved the girth if you know what I mean. I am the same age as you.

  • Since my previous post I had a further thought. I believe it is worthwhile taking daily low dose ED drugs for the purpose of penile rehabilitation - this is common practice in the US after RAP and becoming more widely available here. But health care trusts can be a bit fussy about dishing out ED prescriptions but if you ask your Urologist to send a letter to your GP asking for them to issue a low dose ED drug to be taken on a daily basis "for the purpose of penile rehabilitation" I'm sure that will do the trick.

And I would do this sooner rather than later. I messed about trying all the ED drugs at full strength - none worked for the purposes of having sex and the side effects for me were quite significant (red face, stuffy nose, headache - enough to put you off sex for life!). For the past six months - that is 18 months post prostatectomy - I've been taking daily low dose ED drugs. Currently taking 5mg Tadalafil every day with no side effects. I do think it's making a difference but my mistake was not doing this earlier.

    All the best

  • Hi

I agree with 'pumps', you should contact your urologist/surgeon or specialist nurse and speak to them about your on going issues. They might then write to your GP to prescribe you ED drugs if appropriate or get your Gp to refer you to ED clinic for help.

I had my RALP last Oct and was started on 5mg tadalafil a couple of months post op, as recommended by my surgeon as part of the penile rehabilitation and health.

Although I feel there has been some improvement I still have ED, but its more about keeping the blood flowing and the internal plumping healthy.   I am now looking at ED pumps (whilst still taking the medication), if nothing else to help maintain penile health.

Whatever you do, don't randomly try things that you have read online or not to do anything. Speak to your Gp and get referred to ED clinic for professional help.

    best wishes

  • If your op was cancer related then you are DEFINITELY entitled to free ED help via the NHS -Ask your GP for form FP92A which is an application for a medical exemption certificate - then ask for a consultation with a Urological Clinical Nurse Specialist - they know far more than the GP about your problem !

What a shame you weren't immediately told of this by your medical team. You may find that an FoC  pump- via the NHS, not from any Tom Dick or Harry on the web, may be more effective--- in the 21st century it seems that if you don't ask- you don't get !

  • ED pumps are better, in my opinion, then drugs- definitely -as Megalodon said - do not randomly try things on line - the NHS offers top class help -FREE  for Cancer patients - if appropriate.

  • Hi Carmybear

I had a radical prostatectomy a little over a year ago. One nerve was spared. This was done in France where there is emphasis on sexual health. I have been on a daily 5mg Tadalafil and weekly Edex injections. It has taken time [I am 77] but there is a definite improvement. With the right support, things can improve
