Hi ,new here so not sure what to say ,just been through a prostatectomy am just about 8 weeks post op wondering about other people's situation

  • New here as well, and almost 8 weeks since my prostatectomy! Hope things are progressing well for you.

The first 2 weeks I had a catheter, and thankfully I have only a few drops of leaks, and not very often - incontinence was one of my major worries before the surgery.  Mentally I am very up and down. My follow up appointment is in 2 weeks, and my stress levels are already up.

  • Sounds like we are on a similar time scale,I am on just 1 pad a day,I think being an active runner helped with the pelvic floor, try not think think too much ,I find we can over think and when we get there it's not as bad as expected good news on the incontinence Four leaf clover

  • Just had a look at your profile. I also had urine retention due to my prosate being enlarged before the cancer was diagnosed and for me that also made the decision to go for surgery in some ways easier. It was a great relief (pun intended) to be able to pass urine again once the catheter was gone, before surgery I had spent a year doing ISC. Maybe it helps other people in the same situation to read this.

And you're absolutely right, I overthink things. Have you already had your first PSA test after surgery?

  • Yes it was 0.01 so undetectable  , turned out i had 4 tumors in the prostate, contained, my main issue right now is  my pelvic floor getting fatigued being on my feet all day now I'm back at work on light duties  which gives me a feeling like I have splinter in my penis but have worked on taking 10 min sit down breaks every couple of hours which seem to be helping ,looking at your profile we seem to have been on very similar journey.
