Hi,
I have not been able to contribute to this forum as much as I would like, I have been on HT for 9 months ( injections and tablets) waiting for PSA to reach single figures . On the 21st February told it had reached 1.6 , and was put forward for RT . I had my planning scan twice as I didn’t have enough water in my bladder the first time which has delayed RT by 2 weeks , I am now able to say RT starts the 29th of March , 20 sessions in all.
I just a bit nervous that all the bad bits get cooked and the good bits duck , I know I’m in good hands but I’m sure I’m not the only one to feel this. I don’t want my return ticket stamped just yet as I feel there’s life in the old dog.
it’s been a long road as I had blood tests 11th may 21 , but things are finally moving forward .
Cheers Tony
Hi my husband just finished 23 zaps after HDR brachtherapy in January.
He was treated at The Christue ( hope I'm allowed to name). The radiographers and bracchy team were mega. So so kind.
He found the first session of radiotherapy un- nerving but now finished misses the routine!!
Problems - a week since end of treatment if he has caffeine or booze he is easily up to the loo 4 times a night. Hormone pills also cause bed blankets to be thrown of with mega sweats.
Bowels are hit and miss. Much more frequent but no accidents yet.
He feels otherwise great. Lots of energy and ready for the future. Doesn't regret treatment and feels a fraud for not rushing back to work. Sexual tackle still functioning too which the consultants told us not to expect.
Pleasantly suprised. Though 2 minor tattoos on hips oh well ???
Good luck.
Morning Wispmydog,
When my Radiation treatment finished I also found myself missing them. It was for just over 4 weeks.
It was the start of November when I finished mine. Just started having normal Tea and Coffee now. I still drink wine, never been a beer drinker since my teens (only 40 years ago).
I was told that it was the effects of the Radiation treatment, squeezing on my bladder that made me pee all of the time.
My flow was down to a trickle but am on about 90% now (touchwood).
Are you impressed with the tattoos? Remember Borstal spots? Say no more.
I have kept a diary ever since I was diagnosed. It's a great outlet for emotions and lots of swearing involved. 1/2 way through my 4th one now.
All the best.
