Last few months I have experienced a lot of thirst, drinking water quite often, this has been going on just after I started Prostap injections. Doctor said I may have diabetes and sent me for blood test. Results showed very high glucose levels in my blood, 26.5 on the little AgaMatrix Jazz meter. I read the side effects of Prostap and it can affect one in ten people. Has anyone had this experience. They have started me on Gliclazide 40mg one per day.
Thanks Dougie
Yes, I have just been diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes. I blame it on three years of Prostap injections and lack of sleep since a couple of months after starting the HT. The Diabetes nurse at the GP didn't appear to know much about either cause. I have decided to try a low carb/low sugar diet rather than medication and see what happens. I have to say a low carb/low sugar diet is pretty boring!
Thanks Seamus, I agree with you, my doctor and nurse seem to overlook this option of the hormone cause. My daughter was told by a specialist doctor that her diabetes was caused through hormonal problems. She is slim and not overweight and has type 1 diabetes. I think that our medical practitioners are trained to look at the normal causes of diabetes and can miss other factors in individual cases.
