Dear all,
Recently, my husband how is suffering from prostate cancer with metastasis, have been suggested to take part in a clinical study involving treatment with Olaparib & Pembrolizumab.
We'd love to hear if some of you have been treated with these drugs? What are their effects on cancer?
Best regards,
Miriam
Sorry you haven't received any responses.
This may be because as these medications are on trial for prostate cancer.nobody in this community has ever had them.
Both of them have been used for other cancers with some effect.
Olaparib appears to be a " growth blocker" and this and interferes with the cancer cells ability to repair its DNA It may therefore slow down cancer growth.
Pembrolizumab is an immunotherapy treatment, in simple terms it activates the body's own immune system (T cells) to attack cancer cells and kill them.
Both are "targeted" therapies, which unlike traditional chemotherapies only act on cancer cells rather than on other normal cells as well.
Realistically, these will slow down the progression of the cancer, but may not stop it entirely.
Both have side effects which you should be made aware of.
Whatever cancer throws your way, we’re right there with you.
We’re here to provide physical, financial and emotional support.
