Pains in my bones

Hi just seeing if anyone has got any advice as iam struggling with my pain meds at the moment I have had a ct on my hips & then another full body scan because of my pain in my hips & legs I have prostate cancer that has spread to my bones & spine I have had it for around 3 years now & been living with really bad pains in the hole of my body & I have tryed a few painkillers at the moment iam on zomorpth & some tablets for nerve pain but for around 2 months now I have had really bad pains in my hips & legs & the pain meds are not doing anything for it that is why I had the 2 scans but they came back ok so my cancer has not got any worse so I don't understand why iam getting the pains & my specialist & Macmillan nurse have been trying to sort out my meds to help with the pains but it is not working so thought I would see if anyone has had anything similar or got any advice for me on it thank you

    Hi,

    Are you on hormone treatment Decapeptyl because according to the patient information sheet for this one of the common side effects is bone pain, extract from the leaflet below.... 

    Side effects which are very common (may affect more than 1 in 10 people) are:

    • Hot flushes
    • Weakness
    • Excessive sweating
    • Back pain
    • Pins and needles sensation in the legs
    • Reduced libido
    • Impotence.

    Side effects which are common (may affect up to 1 in 10 people) are:

    • Nausea, dry mouth
    • Pain, bruising, Redness, and swelling at injection site
    • Muscle and bone pain,
    • Pain in the arms and legs, Oedema (build-up of fluid in the body tissues) Lower abdominal pain
    • High blood pressure
    • Allergic reaction
    • Increase in weight
    • Dizziness, headache
    • Loss of libido, Depression, Mood changes.

  • Hi mate yes I do have a hormone injection I have a pro stab injection every 3 months got one at the beginning of October I have been having them for about 3 years now & I know about the side effects of it already mate but thank you for messaging me about it

  • Has any one suggested a blast of radiotherapy to the painful areas?  I have heard some people have this and it seems to work?  Check with your Macmilllan Nurse and/or consultant to see if this would be suitable for you.
