Does anyone have any opinions about Chemo for late stage Prostate cancer.

I can not make up my mind wether to agree it or take a different option. I believe that immunotherapy may soon be available which does not involve dripping poison into your veins .

But there are other alternatives after hormone control becomes in effective . Like Cannibis oil, and ketogenic diet.

     Signs of metastasis:-

A few patients accompany the signs and side effects of metastasis.

    a) Lumbo sacral torment because of spread of growth cells to lumbar and sacral vertebrae.

    b) Fracture of spine because of malignant development in the spine.

    c) Swelling, torment and liquid accumulation in the guts because of injury in the mid-region.

    d) Respiratory protestations because of disease of mediastinal lymphnodes and lungs.

    e) General shortcoming because of spread of tumor to various parts of the body.

    f) Anemia because of involment of bone marrow and expanded pulverization of RBCs.

    Dave,

Thanks for the info.  I’m getting ready to pull the trigger on Taxotere and I’m curious on which frequency and dosage you took.  Every 3 weeks I assume given 6 sessions.  Was it 75 or 90 dosage?

My history:  found PSA of 18 in May.  Hadn’t had it checked in 5 years.  (Not happy with previous doc).  MRI showed tumor was 95% likely cancer. Went to Vegan Gluten Free alcohol free diet May 2017.  Still on that.  DR recommended no biopsy (a natural/alt MD) so we sent blood to Greece for RGCC.  No circulating tumor cells.  So we thought it was localized.  PSA went  to 35 in July. Then to 60 in August.

Went to AZ for a C-11 Acetate scan — showed spots in lymph and bone.  Started Lupron monthly shots and after two shots, PSA = 6.  But given Lupron is not the cure, I’m getting ready for CBD Oil and Taxotere, probably same time.  Scary.  But here’s the thing— No symptoms form any cancer.  Testosterone is now < 20 so I don’t have to tell you about THAT symptom....

Anyway, I’m just looking for recent Taxotere users — so I very much appreciate your sharing.

    Hello Steven /

    Welcome to the online community.

You've posted in an old discussion, the last post before yours was about 8 months ago so, in case Dave doesn’t get back to you I just thought I’d let you know someone has read your post and you’re not being ignored.

I‘ve had 6 cycles of Taxotere (Docetaxel) myself. As you’re about to start it maybe this link would be helpful to you. Different people have different doses, I think mine was 148ml each time. It also affects everyone differently so make sure you tell your medical team about any side effects so they can help you with them. The side effects can be a bit of a lottery and I found not every cycle was the same. If you take anything “over the counter” not prescribed by your doctors it’s probably a good idea to let them know as different drugs can interact and not all the interactions are pleasant ones.

    All the best

    Jim

Hi jus need to ask, does chemo is good option for prostrate cancer for stage 4

This is regard to my dad

  • Hello Macafee, welcome to the community though sorry you have to be here. The thread you have posted on is quite an old one. It would be better if you started your own new thread and give more details about your dad e.g, age, general health, PSA, biopsy and scan results as well as any treatment he is on or has been on. This will help others answer your request.

If you press the start new discussion tab you can do this.

The Stampede trial showed that hormone therapy combined with early chemotherapy for advanced prostate cancer improves outcomes.

    Best wishes, Ian.

I just started June 16 2020 and have 5 more infusions every 3 weeks. I got thru the first infusion and really just noticed nauseous and dizziness and tired. I have been in Lupron-2012, casodex, enzalutamide, Xgeva and originally radiation in 2010. PSA was 2.8 with a Gleason 3/4= 7. Long road and still waiting for cure. I still have albiterone left after chemo.

Take life day by day and be grateful for the little things.  Don’t get caught up in what you can’t control.  Accept it and make the best of it.  When you stop worrying about what you can’t control, you have more time to change the things you can control.  And that changes everything in the long run.

  • Hi

i have stage four to, in all the places you’ve mentioned, I was put on a trial called stampede, chemo, RT And hormone three monthly jabs for life.

My chemotherapy was Docetaxel 6 sessions, it killed off the cancer for four years, it’s very slowly coming back, but I have options that can control it again, with new drugs coming out all the time, also new trials, so although it’s not a nice feeling knowing you have this, there’s always or nearly always something waiting in the wings there to help.

So unless your allergic to any medication, always listen to what their saying. To help with the bones I take Alca-D it helps strengthens them, ask your doctor, any help is a plus for us.
