Hello All
My husband finished his chemo 3 weeks ago and had a scan. Went for results yesterday but scan results not back. Dr said the scan was only a formality and as PS was low (0.04 latest result down from 5.9 at diagnosis) was not expected to show any concerns. He was told he will now continue on daralutamide and have another blood test in a month and if ok then every three months. I am a little concerned they are relying just on the psa as i understood that a relatively low initial psa could mean it was low secreting and therefore the psa was not always accurate of what may be going on behind the sceenes ( he is gleeson 9 with spread to lymph and sacrum) .
Hello VWW,
My PSA at diagnosis was lower at 4.3 (at age 60).
That was in 2016 and I had RT/HT which worked for several years until it began creeping up and reached 2.0, the trigger for further tests. Recurrence was confirmed and I was put on triplet therapy - completed chemo Autumn 2024, now on indefinite HT and darolutamide.
I just have 12 weekly blood tests, these measure PSA (which has continued undetectable) plusa numerous other readings to ensure the darolutamide isn't causing other problems (liver function, blood suger and many others).
I'd suggest you have a word with his Doc. when scan results are back to ask for advice over your concerns and hopefully put your mind at rest.
Derek.
