My husband is 54 yrs old- no medical conditions except some pain in the hip which was diagnosed as beginning of arthitis. No known family history of Prostrate Cancer. After he called the GP about hip pain - the GP sent him for an X ray and blood test. The test showed PSA 3.74.Repeat blood test after 5 weeks showed same number.MRi was done-PIRAD 3 , PSA density 0.10, Prostrate size 39cc.Biopsy followed-PC diagosis given by theu rologist in f2f leaving us completely shocked.
histology- Right anterior taget-gleason3 + 4 adenocarcinoma of prostrate.Grade group 2 < 10% pattern 4 .Right nad left lobe systematic biopsies- no evidence of malignancy.
The urologist explained three options-AS/Surgery for removal/ Radiation. He said an appintment to see the surgen for initial consulation will come in 6 weeks. However, now the earliest appointment is offered on Jan 7th on NHS. Waiting for such a long time feels scary.
Should we seek second opinion? If yes- can someone recommend a consulatnt in London?
If some of you had similar numbers what treatment option did you choose? This all seems so confusing- any information and support is hugely appreciated-many thanks!
