I had my recent monthly blood results today, ready for my oncology appointment on monday. Very strange my last result, even though very small, my psa had raised from 0.16 to 0.19. I was concerned as all my previousl results have been on a downward trend since my triplet therapy started last December.
My psa result this months has come down to 0.118. A considerable drop from the raise last month.
Im happy its come down again, but it had been on my mind all month if the treatment had stopped working so soon....
Has anyone else had these fluctuations during treatment ?
Many thanks
Gareth
Hello Gareth (Tattibogoes0
The rises and falls in your PSA are very minor and all very low. PSA results can be affected by may factors:
- did you exercise or ride a bike in the 48 hours before a test? * Did you have any sexual activity in the previous 48 hours? could you have had a UTI around the time of the test?
- were your test undertaken at the same laboratory? - some results are to 2 decimal points some to 3.
I don't see anything to worry about - i think you are dong fine, but obviously that's my personal opinion but I hope it helps.
Best wishes - Brian.

Hi millions
Thanks for your reply.
No to all your questions, especialy sexual activity since being on hormone therapy.. The test was done at a different time and different gp surgery, that is the only difference. All my bloods being taken has always been in the morning apart from my previous bloods taken 4 weeks ago was late evening.as far as im aware, the bloods are being tested at the hospital, but I could be wrong.

Hello Gareth (Tattibogoes)
Thanks for that - I still think you are doing OK. The difference in the last 3 results is only one tenth of a full point at the most and you can't get much lower than you are.

I've had almost 4 years on HT and we still manage to have "fun"!!
Best wishes - Brian.
