Chemical reoccurance

So , after having had a radical prostatectomy state beginning of June followed up by an 8 week PSA test of less than 0.03 I have now had a reading of 0.21.
So it’s  now back to hospital to see what the next steps are.

My original diagnosis in Sept 25 was a Gleason 9 and a PSA of 83 so I have to say the NHS have been amazing .

Recovering from the surgery really well and my incontinence is at 1 pad a day and dry over night at 4 months post op.

My colitis has been unaffected, which is great news so I’m a really good solid place but you can’t help thinking ITS BACK.

Anybody else with colitis who can advise on the next steps please as I think radiotherapy is still out.

  • Hello

Thank you for your update - I don't have colitis, I am just amazed that your team decided to operate with an initial PSA of 75 and a Gleason Score of 9!

However as that's history, I think you need to be asking your team if the rise in PSA is a "biochemical recurrence" or has the cancer gone "Walkabout" and can be found with a scan.

If it's the first then it can be treated with Hormone Therapy, the second a combination of Hormone Therapy and Targeted Radiotherapy.

Good luck with your meeting with your surgeon.

    Best wishes - Brian.

  • Hi Millibob

Surgery was the better option due to my colitis and a high risk of reigniting it.
