Newly diagnosed Gleason 3+5=8 — looking for experiences
I'm 63, based in Scotland, and have recently been diagnosed with prostate cancer.
My PSA was 6.0, and MRI showed a 26 mm PI-RADS 5 lesion, apparently contained within the prostate, with no obvious lymph node involvement.
Biopsy showed Gleason 3+5=8 (Grade Group 4), with 6/6 samples positive on the left, approximately 40% involvement, and the right side clear.
I was told the majority of the cancer was lower grade, with only a small amount of pattern 5. There was some cribriform pattern but no intraductal carcinoma.
I'm awaiting CT and bone scans before treatment is discussed.
I'd particularly like to hear from men with a similar Gleason 8 diagnosis whose staging scans were clear.
What treatment did you have, and how are you doing now?
Thanks in advance.
Hi - slightly different as I had Gleason 4 + 5, diagnosed in Nov following a trip to Drs around this time last year. Have a look at my profile for how that year has unfolded. Last 3 PSA tests 0.01. Saw oncologist for 6 monthly meeting who seemed confident all heading right direction, PSA tests now moved to every 3 months to monitor.
