Unexplained Weight loss

Hi All

I have a phone consultation next Tuesday so I will be mentioning this but I'm getting a bit concerned

I was diagnosed as Stage 4 in 2023, had chemo and am currently on Triptorelin injections every 3 months and daily Abiraterone+steroids
PSA is currently below 0.03 and has been since Feb last year

My weight has stayed pretty constant over the last few years. I was always pretty active and walked the dog 2/3 times a day and also practised martial arts several times a week

Since January this year I have lost 7kg in weight without changing my diet and I only walk the dog twice a day now. Martial arts are a thing of the past since diagnosis unfortunately

Has anyone else experienced this?

I hurt all the time. Muscular and joint pain mostly.
Strangely I have lost weight but seem to have got fatter?

I have been reading a bit about Cachexia and as with all things after a cancer diagnosis my mind always assumes the worst

Any help is appreciated

  • Hello

I can appreciate your concern. In 4 years on Hormone Therapy I have gone the other way and put on 3.5 stone and that's after eating better and getting a new dog to increase my walking.

I can't comment on why you are losing weight but like you am very interested to know why.

I wish you well with your call on Tuesday and hope you get some answers.

    Kind regards - Brian.
