Hello all,
I have come here today to have a bit of a self-indulgent moan, I hope no-one minds!
I am almost 7 years after RALP surgery, and I am currently on daily Bicalutamide. In the past I have had 2 rounds of SABR radiotherapy and 1 round of cryotherapy for bone metastases.
Now my PSA has started rising, and recent MRI scans have shown more bone metastases on my ribs and my pelvis, so I am being referred for more SABR radiotherapy.
I know that it's marvellous that modern medicine can target and treat the cancer cells in my bones - previously treated sites have no recurred. I know that the treatment is not particularly arduous. But I can't escape an overwhelmingly feeling of disappointment that my cancer won't let me alone, and that going for all the planned treatments makes me a "patient" again, not a person.
But at least I am still here, I suppose.

Hello angus (not your real name!) (angusP2 )
It's not an exclusive club you are in but you have the right to feel how you do. I understand that in December 2019 you had surgery and hoped that would be it - cured, but sadly not. Almost 7 years later you are still undergoing treatment for something you had hoped would be long gone.
But at least I am still here,
That's just how I feel - but with the joys of modern treatments life goes on and I can still enjoy my family and doing the things i like to do - holidays, a beer with my mates etc.
It's OUR club and sadly those who don't have a cancer diagnosis just don't understand how it can affect your life.
I look at it as it's my life and the cancer is coming with me wherever I go and whatever I do BUT it's not going to define me - as my GP said "Something else will kill you off before the cancer does" - cheers - thanks for that!
Stay positive, look on the bright side - there are many more people who are in a worse position than we are!
AND YES - you are perfectly entitled to have a whinge about how you feel.
Kind regards - Brian.
