Hello, can I run this past you again please? My husband Mike has been on Degarelix since being diagnosed with metastatic prostate cancer (spread to bones) last April. Initially his PSA was 0.3 but over recent months has crept up, the last one on Friday is 6.7. Recent bone scan showed significant improvement of existing mets. The urologist had originally said he would refer Mike to oncology when PSA reached 5. Has now picked an arbitrary number of 10 in view of bone scan.
This has caused a huge amount of worry and upset. Mike has never been seen by oncology, his care is overseen by this urologist.
I don’t think his decision making is based on sound guidelines. Does anyone have their care with oncology at Newcastle? On Monday I am going to see if it’s possibly to pay for a consultation to see if Mike’s care is appropriate. My heart is breaking as he is trying to be positive but I am not much help as I’m so anxious.

I am 100% behind the comments from Andy62 in the first post.
I think you need to contact the PALS (Patient Advice and Liaison Office) at your hospital - let them know what the score is and ask for an urgent appointment with Oncology - at the same time if you have a number for the Urology department ask them for the same. The more you push the sooner something will happen, you need to be pro-active.
