Side effects from coming off Relugolix ?

Firstly, this post is to reveal that after a radical prostatectomy, 20 rounds of RT and 5 months in of 6 of ADT (Relugolix) my oncologist told me yesterday my cancer is now under control and the PSA is now undetectable.

My question to the forum is around coming off ADT as she said there are further potential side effects after stopping the course.  Has anyone experienced additional or renewed or worsening symptoms after stopping?

the talk now is about what they call self-supported management so although I will have 6 monthly PSA results, they’re keen to know - and be led by - my own symptoms, and to contact them at any time within the 6 month wait list if things develop.

I think the most personal area around all of this is whether to hold 2 fingers up to cancer and tell yourself it’s all behind you now : or say to yourself ‘so far so good but if I’ve come through what I have already, I can face any PSA rises in the future and deal with whatever future treatment may be needed. Everyone’s different.

  • Hello

Well that's great news about the PSA and I wish you well with the future test results - let's hope that's it now!

I am incurable and am on stop/start HT so I can't tell you if the side effects are to do with stopping or starting the stuff - I just go with the flow these days - life is good so happy days. I do though keep my oncology team up to speed with any new aches and pains - but so far none have been cancer related.

You may find this paper and interesting read - and it may help you going forward:

    Good luck.

    Best wishes - Brian.
