Hi - I'm back - quick up date on the journey
You may recall I was diagnosed with T3B N0 back in early July but had a suspicious area on the eye socket that was inconclusive on both bone and CT scans. So I have been waiting for a PET scan to finally confirm the extent of the spread before I can start any treatment. After a scan cancelation and an agonising wait of not knowing the results are now in. My latest timeline entries are below.
August 24th - The PET scan happened today and I took my first Bicalutamide tablet on the 25th. Now have a follow up meeting on the 28th to discuss the scan results. So this is it I should finally get to know the complete picture. I feel like the condemned man in the dock waiting for the jury to return.
August 28th - Well the jury are back and the verdict is in. And in the main its good news. The PET scan showed no activity in the eye orbit or anywhere else in the body. All the cancer is contained in the pelvic region although the PET picked up slight activity in the local lymph nodes not seen by the other scans - so the verdict is T3b N1 M0 to be treated as curable. So I'm now on HT for 2 to 3 years with RT in three months time.
Feeling much more positive now the not knowing is over and we can finally start fighting the cancer. Fingers crossed the side effects are manageable and we can wipe this thing out.

That is pretty much what happened to me - except I diidn’t have a PET scan.
For me the side effects, whilst not fun, have been easily bearable.
You can wipe this out. You can win.
Plan now who you are going to hug when you have a hot flush.
