Burning/stinging whilst passing urine post radiation treatment

Hi Emli , I would have thought that RT side effects would have shown themselves within 18 months.  If the onset was gradual, then maybe SABR has caused the problem.  If it was a sudden onset, my feeling would be probably not RT induced.  Think you probably need to see a Urologist to check what is going on.  Hopefully others can throw some light on your problem, but SABR is relatively new to lots of the NHS.

Thanks for your advice. I should’ve added that I’ve started taking Tamsulosin to see if that helps.

Hi Emli and does it help?  Tamsulosin just relaxes the muscles so I can’t imagine it would work.  Effect would be fairly quick (within a few hours I think).

The first question that springs to my mind during this warmer weather is are you drinking sufficient water?  I was advised to continue drinking at least 2 litres of water a day in addition to other fluids (depending on your body size it might be higher), & during warm weather this needs to be upped as you sweat more.  On occasion when I don't, I do start to feel a stinging sensation which clears again when I up my water intake.
