Abiraterone and rise in liver enzymes

just had my bloods done last week .

my alt is 12 , it has varied from 10 at the lowest to 28 highest .

i've been on abitraterone for 7 years .

hopefully it sorts itself out because it is a good drug .

Thanks for replying. It’s frustrating as he’s very fit and has had few symptoms from any of his meds, he’s also on Prostap. Unfortunately I think he’s one of the 5-10% of men who don’t tolerate it. Prostap is doing its job, PSA down from 27 to 0.5 in 12 weeks. His Testosterone is 0.4. We’ll have to see what happens over the next few weeks. All the best going forward. 

Whilst on Abiraterone I found that stopping any alcohol consumption reduced my ALT , my reasoning being that Abiraterone can put a strain on the liver so removing anything that might add to that strain appears to be beneficial certainly for me.

Yes, he does enjoy a drink, although not to excess. We’ll have to wait and see if the oncologist thinks it’s possible to put him back on it, if so he’ll have to cut right down !
