In recent months I have received helpful guidance from Members of this site and am very grateful. I finished radiotherapy 7 weeks ago. The people were wonderful but from day 1 my bladder did not like the radiation. I have been in and out of A&E for the last few weeks to insert or remove a catheter. It has been a miserable experience and the ongoing pain and catheter remain.
It seems to me that the main issue is the fact that the bladder is obstructed or something similar. The problem has just worsened as the Urology clinic will not remove the catheter or give me advice as they say this is the responsibility of my GP. My GP says the opposite and refers me to the Urology Dept. I have just been introduced to community nurses who are apparently able to deal with such matters as removal of the catheter. After a very long conversation, they are unable to help as they have not received discharge notes from A&E. My GP has been sent a copy.
I am finding it difficult, to say the least. I have to deal with the problem within that was caused by the radiotherapy which presumably requires attention from a doctor and possibly scans. In addition, I need advice on the catheter and it will need changing in a few weeks which I cannot currently arrange for the above reasons.
Does anyone please have any suggestions how I can move this forward. Many thanks in advance.
