Enzalutamide side effects

Hi Avondale these drugs are handled by each of us very differently, so there isn’t one answer.  In my case, I was on Enzalutamide 4 x 40mg and was on that for 3 months.  The plan was to check I could tolerate it and slowly move down to lower dosage if it worked.  I felt like a different person after about a month and was in a constant daze, forgot what I was talking about and my wife said my personality changed.  I discontinued after 3 months and went for an alternative treatment altogether.  Would I go back on it again if that was the only alternative? Yes, but I have seen other posts on here where Enzalutamide was tolerated with almost no side effects.  As I said at the beginning we are all different.

As David2017 says, people react so differently to different drugs. 

My husband has been on Enzalutamide for 2 years, and despite warnings from the oncologist about potential memory loss, has been absolutely fine on it and it has been very effective so far (fingers crossed!) on his PSA and the cancer progression.

The one noticeable side effect is fatigue, he can fall asleep in a chair at the drop of a hat, however he has always had that gift to a certain extent for as long as I’ve known him, so difficult to say how related it is. He has also mentioned getting frustrated that he doesn’t seem to have the physical strength and stamina he used to have, but again who knows whether that is as a result of the disease itself or the Enzalutamide - or just us all getting older! 

Hi Ann (Avondale ), I was having Enzalutamide to counter a metastasic occurrence of PCa in my bone.  After some research and lots of discussion my oncologist let me see an oncologist who specialised in SABR who agreed to try and zap my sternum, allowing me to drop the Enzalutamide.
