Hello,
had my three monthly blood test results today. All well on long term HT treatment, PSA still at 0.02.
Nurse Specialist says the Royal College of something or other is recommending Adkal and Alendronic Acid tablets to prevent osteoporosis for those on long term treatment. Adkal sounds ok, but the possible side effects of the Alendronic Acid sound horrible, problems with one’s jaw and dental issues as well as dizziness and a host of other side effects, so I’m not too keen on trying that. Anyone else on this in addition to Hormone Therapy? Apparently a letter will go to my GP about it before it is prescribed.
cheers.
My husband did not have calcium and vit D whilst on ht - although I think it should have been prescribed. After coming off the ht a dexa scan showed he had osteoporosis . Like you, he did not like the side effects of alendronic acid and declined to take it. He does take the supplements though.
