Hyperbaric oxygen therapy

My radiotherapy finished on March 9th 2026. My healing seems to be taking longer than I consider normal - certainly longer than I'm happy with.

Do any forum members have knowledge and/or experience of hyperbaric oxygen therapy to reduce pain and promote healing?

Thanks,

Chris

  • Hello Chris (

I have just run your question through our search facility and drawn a blank, sorry to say.

Every answer I have had says "consult your team" so although I have knowledge of the treatment I can't find anyone on the Community (never mind our group) who has had this treatment.

    Best wishes - Brian.

  • Thanks for digging Brian. I heard about it through a colleague who was being treated for breast cancer.

I will ask for a professional opinion this week.

    All the best,

    Chris

  • I did a brief search and couldn’t find any information about this within the UK, outside hospitals where you can pay for the service.

The only experience I have with this is second hand, via a long-term colleague who was offered it as a treatment for MS.

It significantly reduced the problems caused by the illness, reducing the effects to the point that her lifestyle was improved very significantly.

i would put it in the “worth enquiring about” category. I suspect that you would have to go private on this one though.

    Changed, but not diminished.
  • I use hyperbaric treatment  for sports injuries. Golf.

Wouldn't have thought of it as a cure for the big C ,but who knows , gleason 9 advanced prostate cancer

  • Hi Steve, I'm reconciled to paying for treatment and I think it's viable for me financially.

    Cheers,

    Chris

  • Hi  I don't believe it's curative but it can help with tissue healing post radiotherapy. This is what I have heard from a colleague.

    Cheers,

    Chris

  • Quite possible it would ,I didnt have much in way of problems after RT,but have suffered with chronic prostatitis since December 25 ,have used hyperbaric chamber which I didnt feel helped prostatitis but shoulder and hip problems I had responded well .
