Hello to you all that are going down the rocky road of Prostate Cancer.A few words of encouragment. In Febuary this year I was advised to have

Radiotherapy because the cancer had gone walk about and was close to my Spine.I will admit I did not want R.T because of the side effects we read

about. My Oncologists said the option was Chemo Tablets which would have very bad side effects. So Radiotherapy it was to be.It was for Ten days at

Maidstone and as I live in Sittingbourne it meant a round trip of 60+ miles for Ten days.Back a few words my Oncologists did say as the cancer was

so close to my Spine if nothing was done it could spread (to my spine) and paralyze me(no thank you).Anyway as said I did through with it and with

some side effects mainly nausea. But with tablets it did ease. The treatment by the way is Palliative. After all that my P.S.A came down from 59.86 to

2.77.I am on Zoladex every three months which helps. My next Oncologists is in July.So hopfully the good progress will continue. So if anyone is advise

to have R.T go for it you will be glad you did.Best wihes to all who are going down this horrible road.Derek

  • Hello Derek (

Thank you for the positive post - Your PSA reduction is brilliant - long may it keep the downward trend. Thank you also for the good words about Radiotherapy. I hope it helps others who have to make the choice of treatments.

    Best wishes - Brian.

  • Hi summer and winter

    Thank you for your post.

I will be having the radiotherapy discussion with my oncologist in mid-August and it is so helpful to hear the opinions of others.  I am looking at 20 days worth across four weeks....

My consultant referenced the Stampede trials some time ago and the efficacy of these combing Triplet Therapy with RT, I am presently looking at this as a positive next step.

    All the best
