My dad "watched and waited" for 8 years. The cancer has now spread to the bones, lymph nodes and spine. He has had one round of HT and PSA has dropped from 132 to 13. We are not sure whether to have the 2nd HT as the side effects increase each time. He is 89 and the side effects are worse with age.He has COPD and reduced renal function. Has anyone else experienced this?
Check with his team whether or not there are other HT combinations he could use.
There are a number of them, and the side affects do vary slightly.
They may be problems caused by the medications for his existing problems, or the problems themselves, which might restrict the therapy he can have.
Of course, at the age of 89, the side effects of all drugs are going to be magnified.

Changed, but not diminished.
Hi Brownie23 , this is all about quality of life. Personally, at 89 I would probably stick with one HT if he can manage the side effects. Bring in another in 5 years time if necessary. PCa is slow growing so having been on AS for 8 years and the first HT working well, I would just stay on that. It’s a very personal (family) decision though.
Best wishes, David
