Hi all

Hubby And I take a multivitamin and a probiotic capsule each day. Have read that you should not take antioxidants while on radiotherapy so he was going to stop vitamins from tomorrow (2 weeks before treatment) but wondered if he can continue with probiotics as I thought it might be good for his gut during treatment? I know we should have asked at the planning meeting but didn't think of it unfortunately.

has anyone taken probiotics when receiving radiotherapy?

many thanks Relaxed️

  • Hello

I think this is a question for the radiology team. Personally I would be giving them a call on Tuesday and asking the question.

You could always contact our Support Line on 0808 808 00 00 (8am to 8pm 7 days a week) and ask one of the Cancer Nurse Specialists or pose the question in "Ask a Nurse" - here's the link you need:

We have a great thread you might find helpful and here's the link you need:

  • Hi  during radiotherapy the idea is to minimise gas, so onions, curry, beans etc.  Some hospitals suggest reducing dairy but this I think is to avoid tummy upsets.  I would check with your team when you meet them.  Try and get a routine that works and stay with it.  Main problem is boredom!

    Best wishes, David
