Hi
my husband has finished chemo & radiotherapy and currently on relugolix for the next 2 years, he has been on it since July 25, he is currently suffering from hot flushes, terrible bone pain etc, hes 61, his psa was 51 but currently 0.01 so really good news, our radiotherapist has prescribed him venlafaxine 75mg to help with sleeping. Has anyone been on this as the side effects are scaring hi
he didn’t realise it was an anti depressant. He hasn’t started it yet . Just wanted some views on anyone else that’s been prescribed it. One of the common side effects is insomnia
. Thankyou philippa
Hello Philippa (Terrified wife )
Thank you for your post - the PSA results are brilliant, however i can't help with the Venlafaxine.
I did however suffer from terrible hot flushes. Sage Tablets (Menoforce) sorted them out for me, and after a week on them I haven't had another one - and I am still on the sage 4 years on. They don't work for everyone and are a tad expensive. You should also check with his team before using them.
I hope the above helps and you get answers on the Venlafaxine.
Best wishes - Brian.

Thanks, just got him some so he will try that first before starting the venlafaxine
Hi Philippa, my partner takes it and has had improvements in his hot flashes and mood:) no problems with insomnia yet.
That’s great, thanks for replying, anything’s worth a shot at the moment
Hi I have nust completed my chemo. And also take relugolix. My problem of excessive sweating has increased too much. I read up on thr net and came across venlafaxine whichbis basically a anti depressant but it has an off label use in thermo regulation.
But i am afraid of its side effects and withdrawl effects when i stop it.
Has anyone been taking venlafaxine for controlling hot sweatd and sweating? Any success?
Good evening Philippa (and everyone else),
Thank you for sharing your concerns.
I have recently been prescribed venlafaxine to take along with tamoxifen. I am also worried about the impacts and side effects and not sure what to do. I came on here hoping to talk to others who have more knowledge.
Any advice greatly appreciated
