Just joined this great forum. My PSA test was 57,2 weeks later it was 58. I had a DRE which the doc said felt abnormal. After seeing the urology nurse iam being sent straight for a CT scan before anything else. Is this normal? Sorry if iam a bit vague. Just geting my head round things
Hello Wilbur
That's the normal diagnostic path. Once they have the CT Scan on the assumption they have a good image of your Prostate you will then be offered a biopsy. The biopsy will be guided by the CT image. With a PSA of 58 they will more than likely request a bone scan too.
The CT scan will show the location of the cancer, the biopsy will tell you amongst other things how aggressive it is.
Don'e worry about asking questions - carry on - knowledge is power. Nothing is too trivial.
Best wishes - Brian.
