Just joined this great forum. My PSA test was 57,2 weeks later it was 58. I had a DRE which the doc said felt abnormal. After seeing the urology nurse iam being sent straight for a CT scan before anything else. Is this normal? Sorry if iam a bit vague. Just geting my head round things

  • Hello

That's the normal diagnostic path. Once they have the CT Scan on the assumption they have a good image of your Prostate you will then be offered a biopsy. The biopsy will be guided by the CT image. With a PSA of 58 they will more than likely request a bone scan too.

The CT scan will show the location of the cancer, the biopsy will tell you amongst other things how aggressive it is.

Don't worry about asking questions - carry on - knowledge is power. Nothing is too trivial.

    Best wishes - Brian.

  • Hi  this is the worst stage, once you have a diagnosis things do calm down.  PCa is very slow growing so don’t panic and rush into anything.  The guys (and girls) on here will help you at every stage.

    Best wishes, David
