Hi guys this is a strange post I guess but I'm a little worried about a friend of mine he was diagnosed in October and still has not had any treatment apart from hormone injections,he phoned me today and has a new woman in his life and everything downstairs is working perfectly, can this happen?? I'm worried he has refused treatment and won't tell me

  • Hi  , I noticed you haven’t had any reply so me posting will bring this back to the top again.  Without knowing your friends diagnosis it is difficult to comment, but like you, my inclination would be to think that HT would normally be associated with ED.  I don’t know how many are unaffected by HT and perhaps others can help.

    Best wishes, David

Please remember that I am not medically trained and the above are my personal views.

  • ED is not immediate and the effects of hormone therapy builds over time. I think I was still able to get an erection some months into hormone therapy and but gradually lost all libido/sexual function over 2 years of therapy.

Its therefore quite possible he is still having treatment. There is no real way to know without asking. At the end of the day its his choice to make and unfortunately there is not much we can do about it.

  • I was still able to function in that  department at least four months after starting HT, probably a few weeks longer.
