No consultant to be seen!

Well, first appointment at Christie’s for a plan of treatment. Thought it would be with a consultant, not important enough I spose. We got a trainee nurse specialist. She was very nice though.
but I am again confused about the treatment plan. I didn’t think about it properly until we got home. It’s six months of tablet form HT with a month of RT thrown in the middle. Surely six months of HT isn’t enough for a T3 Gleason 7 4+3.
pit was mentioned about his mild cognitive impairment and how it may make it worse. I would rather have him alive though!
any thoughts anybody.

cheers everyone.

  • Hi Cabb

Stats are not particularly high and T3 means just broken through but no where else.

I would have said 6 - 12 Months on HT, if U are worried about 6 months U could always query it with them but presumably they have taken everything into consideration.

    Best wishes

  • Hello Cheryl (

That sounds like a plan to me - he's not got an aggressive cancer so the Hormone Therapy will remove his testosterone (the cancer's food) and then the Radiotherapy will kill off the cancer cells for good once they have stopped growing.

He will have regular PSA tests to ensure the treatment is working.

    Best wishes - Brian.

  • Just finished 2 years of hormone therapy for the same cancer you have, T3 Gleason 7 4+3.

I saw Nurse Specialists right up to starting radiotherapy, My meeting with a consultant was two 10 minute 'near me' video calls.

my latest  PSA was 0.16, I'm happy with that.
