My wife was keen to try the Mounjaro slimming pens, however, she had a stroke 6 weeks ago and so has not progressed her thoughts. She is on the mend and is again considering seeing her doctor to seek advice. She is over weight but far from obese.
Whilst she has researched tho pros and cons, there was mention of it's benefits for prostate cancer sufferers.
I intend asking my Oncologist his opinion at my next appointment in early May.
Anyone else here explored the option?
Hello KJ911
An interesting post - there is some research to suggest the use of the weight loss jab can slow the progression of Prostate Cancer but nothing set in stone yet.
As an aside during my first 3 years on Hormone Therapy I put on 3.5 stone in weight. I had a gap in my treatment and for the last 7 months I have been back on Hormone Therapy. As my consultant didn't want me to put on any more weight (and the NHS wouldn't stich my lips together ) I have ended up on Ozempic.
It's simple to use (you just inject yourself once a week) - you build up to the full dose by starting 4 weeks on 1/4 dose and 4 weeks on 1/2 dose before going for the full jab. This is to ensure you aren't affected by any side effects.
It's working for me as I have lost just under 2 stone. It's coming off slowly and I actually feel really good. On the other hand my PSA since I have been on Ozempic has risen slightly!
Just my personal experience.
Best wishes - Brian.

I have been thinking about asking my oncologist about weight loss medication, now I will add it to my list of questions for my next appointment..
I am currently on daily Bicalutamide and twice weekly Tamoxifen, so I need to make sure there would be no adverse drug interactions.
My sentiment exactly, I am on Abiraterone and a steroid (thus my excuse for an eternal hunger!). Some research states that it may reduce the rate of spread as well as the health benefits of weight loss.
My wife has a face to face with a pharmacist on Thursday morning, I shall update.
I need to speak to my Oncologist first.
Another question I have to ask, following a telephone appointment re bone density, I have to ask re a "bone tablet".
Hello KJ911
The normal is Calcium/Vitamin D tablets.
I was offered Alendronic Acid as well but declined this as I read the list of serious side effects!
Do let us know how you and Mrs KJ911 get on.
Kind regards - Brian.
