Hi

my husband had a transperineal biopsy 14 days ago, bloody urine eased after 7/8 days. He’s concerned he is still getting watery blood in urine after having a poo…is this normal at this stage? (He is on blood thinners following stents for a blocked artery 4 years ago) anyone put his mind at rest about this please? Or should he contact urology?

thanks so much

Tracey

  • Hello Tracey (

It's been over 4 years since I had my biopsy but the surgeon said - "any blood anywhere - give us a call and tell us all about it". So my advice give urology a ring in the morning - they will point you in the right direction.

    Best wishes - Brian.

  • Hi Tracey

Contact your urology Nurse of course, but don't worry too much. I had blood showing for a long time after my template perineal biopsy. It got better and went away, the body will repair it's self.

  • I am on blood thinners. They told me to start again after 4 days but in reality it took me 2 weeks before light blood stopped. My wife has urine test strips and they showed very small traces after 2 weeks which could'nt be seen with the naked eye. Going by my own experience I would put his mind at rest. Of course the decision is yours.

    Cheers Dave
