Any idea of the wait times and qualification necessary for a PET/PSMA scan. I have a rising PSA ( 0.6 > 2.5 > 15) after stable 0.6 for 10 years following brachytherapy. Are there any side effects for the scan?
I guess waiting times vary quite significantly around UK. A few months ago I was quoted up to 8 weeks (in Nottingham, with its large well equipped teaching hospital trust), although in the event happened in just 5 weeks. I think some have to travel a considerable distance.
Hi Putrisoft These are the latest guidelines for having a PSMA PET scan which have been approved by NICE but basically for you it is when there is a PSA rise of 2 above your nadir, in other words 2.6. There is also the rate of increase to be considered.
My husband had 3 PSMA PET scans with minimal side effects - he just had to steer clear of children and pregnant women for a few hours after each scan.
