Has anyone taken up on the 12 month free membership with Pure Gym for anyone with metastatic prostate cancer on hormone therapy treatment.
Just saw a flyer in the Clatterbridge cancer centre, Liverpool.
Yes I joined about 4 months ago as part of this scheme. Had a break during my radiotherapy which finished last week and I've start going back to the gym this week. I belive weight control and exercise are steps I can take to improve my outcome. Not a gym person but I find I quite like going.
Maybe I should mention that it took about six weeks from applying to getting access.
Hi Brendan6af60d How did the application process work? I’m seriously considering doing this when I’m signed off work for my RT (I’ve just started using the gym at work).
Thanks, Chris M
I don’t remember all the details, but I think I filled out a short form somewhere and felt they didn’t have enough information to know if I actually had metastatic prostate cancer.
I didn’t hear anything for quite a while and figured nothing would come of it, until I eventually got an email saying I was good to go. I got the sense I’d applied when the scheme first launched, so the delay might have been due to an initial surge.
Since I’m not a gym person and unfamiliar with the layout, I found PureGym’s free 30-minute intro session with a coach well worth signing up for.
I don’t have much to compare it to, but I’ve been impressed by my local PureGym and will probably pay to renew when my free year ends.
Good Morning Odd Man In and Tomjef

AH Odd Man In
I drive a computer for a living in my real job (even though I should have retired 4 years ago!!). It keeps me out of licenced premises and pays for all my holidays!!
You must be the bloke who when I can't get something to work always says "Have you turned it off and turned it back on again?". .
Kind Regards - Brian.
