Has anyone taken up on the 12 month free membership with Pure Gym for anyone with metastatic prostate cancer on hormone therapy treatment.

Just saw a flyer in the Clatterbridge cancer centre, Liverpool.

  • Yes I joined about 4 months ago as part of this scheme. Had a break during my radiotherapy which finished last week and I've start going back to the gym this week. I belive weight control and exercise are steps I can take to improve my outcome. Not a gym person but I find I quite like going.

  • Maybe I should mention that it took about six weeks from applying to getting access.

  • Hi  How did the application process work? I’m seriously considering doing this when I’m signed off work for my RT (I’ve just started using the gym at work).

    Thanks, Chris M

  • I don’t remember all the details, but I think I filled out a short form somewhere and felt they didn’t have enough information to know if I actually had metastatic prostate cancer.

I didn’t hear anything for quite a while and figured nothing would come of it, until I eventually got an email saying I was good to go. I got the sense I’d applied when the scheme first launched, so the delay might have been due to an initial surge.

Since I’m not a gym person and unfamiliar with the layout, I found PureGym’s free 30-minute intro session with a coach well worth signing up for.

I don’t have much to compare it to, but I’ve been impressed by my local PureGym and will probably pay to renew when my free year ends.

  • My new browser doesn't let me copy members' names. I hope the tagging still works Thinking

  • Good Morning

If you wish to "tag" a member:

    * Click on the @ and a box will appear with all the members names in that thread. Click on the name you wish to "tag".

    * If it's a member who isn't on that thread - start to type their username and it should appear in the box. Then click on the name.

I hope this works for you.

    Kind Regards - Brian.

  •   I’ve worked in IT support for 30 years. What a waste of a life! Pensive

    Thank you!

  • AH

I drive a computer for a living in my real job (even though I should have retired 4 years ago!!). It keeps me out of licenced premises and pays for all my holidays!!

You must be the bloke who when I can't get something to work always says "Have you turned it off and turned it back on again?". JoyJoyJoy.

    Kind Regards - Brian.
