If you don't get an acceptable answer when you contact the hospital, your next port of call should be the hospital PALS office (Patient Advisory and Liaison Service). They should be able to sort you out.

When I got fed up with waiting I started to ring up often just to ask politely when I’d receive an answer. It always works if you keep your cool.
