Consultant took it to MDT

After recently having  CT and  Bone scans ct found insidental findings on my spine and bone scan was negative.

Today MDT are sending me for a PSMA PET scan at the Christie and will mostly be looking at my spine.

Q- does a PET scan look  everywhere ?

Hope this all makes sence

Take care

  • Hi  very low numbers so no rush.  At such low numbers even a PET may not pick anything up, but yes it can look everywhere.

    Best wishes, David

  • Hello Spud,

I'm very sorry you find yourself needing further investigations.

My PSMA PET in 2024 investigating recurrence covered the total body area from base of skull down to top of thighs which they told me is the normal area covered.

I hope you get a good result under the circumstances you know so far. My results led to triplet therapy during 2024 and all's going well for me again now.

Let me know if you have any other questions and I'll do my best to answer.

    All the best, Derek.

  • Hi  - you have a great team behind you.  PSMA PET at The Christie is the best way forward. Once that radioactive tracer is in your system, it will stick to the proteins common on PC cells. It will light up any areas of cancer and they will scan your whole body, even though they’re suspicious of the lumbar region.  Good luck and let’s hope they can isolate and access the area that’s causing the PSA rise.  You’re in good hands.  Very informative bio, btw.   AW

  • Hi Derek

Thank you for your words, I will let everyone know when i know.

When i was first diognosed  I went from a normal PSA to 12 in 6 months and even though it was not in the hundreds it was as in my post gleason 9 etc

I was told thatit was because I was a low secreter

    Kindest regards

  • Hi Alpine Wanderer

Thank you that is useful to know, I will contact you when I have the results.

I have radiation proctitis and last year an MRI showed radiation damage to L5 and S1 on my spine.

I am so blessed to have so many kind people around me "thank you"

    Take care

  • Carrying on from my original post ( above/ top of the page )

A PSMA PET Scan was done quickly on Friday 30th January 2026, at the Fantastic Christie Hospital

It was carried out smoothly and i was informed that  the result will go to my Urologist in 5 days, it will then have to go to MD  but then I should know pretty quickly soon after that.

I said to the kind people who read my post and wished me well that l would keep you all up to date. I was worried as it was all happening around New Year.

During the last 10 Month after finishing treatment a steady PSA of 0.01 since 2021 in Feb 2025 the rise began and went to 0.07 followed by 0.23 / 0.28 / and as in my post 0.44 on Dec 22nd 2025 and that is when MDT got involved again.

Low numbers matter when rising ask questions as I did, do not sit and say nothing.

Whilst waiting for my PET Scan appointment I had a diabetic foot check as routine with the GP nurse who did my bloods and the PSA had risen again to 0.53 in exactly  1 month and I beleive they will be looking for a Biochemical Reocurence and looking deeply around my spine

During the increase of my PSA over the months I was advised on this sitep to ask for 3 monthly check on my PSA instead of 6 monthly, I did and this it was no way a problem and the Urologist gave me several blood forms as we spoke.

Thanks for everyones help and concern I will be back in touch soon

    Kindest regards
