Happy New Year all

So I had my biopsy on the 17th December and am now waiting for the results.

My question is, how do you normally find out about the results? Do they phone you or just get a letter for an appointment to discuss? Does it depend on the outcome of the results?

Thanks all

  • I had my results in a face to face meeting with the specialist nurse.

  • So did you get a letter saying come in for an appointment?

  • Hello

There's no set way to deliver results. I didn't get mine until after the MDT and was called in to discuss my treatment plan (no treatment options for me).

Some are by letter, some by telephone and some face to face - it's a pure lottery.

Do remember for most there are treatment options and you will have the time to think about what's best for you and your family.

    Best wishes - Brian.

  • Thank you. The waiting is awful, especially being over Christmas, but I have my fingers crossed.

  • They called me in and I do remember being happyish that it was a Gleeson 6 only

    Good luck

  • Yes, the waiting is always the difficult part, but really, there’s nothing we can change. I had a different mindset as things progressed, I actually started nervously looking forwards to finding out, and moving on from there…!  Weird, I know !

My biopsy results were delivered face-face, they are also on my NHS app portal as a letter from the consultant to my GP.

  • Oh interesting. I didn't think they would be on the app

  • I just rang Urology department and my results are in but they wouldn't tell me. They said it has to go to MDT on Monday before I'm told anything.

  • Hello

So your biopsy results will be a Gleason Score and a TNM staging.

They are your details and you are entitled to have them and have a legal right to see them. They could ask you to make a formal "Subject Access Request" and then they have a month to provide you with the figures but I can't see why you can't have them now over the telephone.

    Best wishes - Brian.
