Interested in others experience of pain post radiotherapy treatment for advanced prostate cancer.
My husband had excruciating pain about 3 weeks in out of 4 weeks. Ended up in A&E twice, various x rays etc. Currently on paracetamol 4 times a day, up to 4 codeine a day with oramorph as a top up too.
I have to say Hospital at Home have been great and we are now being supported by physio, OT and local hospice.
Asked for oncology review to be brought forward but this is still another 6 weeks away. I really feel he needs full body MRI and/or bone scan.
Is pain from RT, referred pain from mestastes?
Hi Selina19649c I noticed that nobody had replied to your post, so this will bump it back to the top. I have had chemo and RT and am on lifetime HT but never had pain attributable to PCa. I haven’t read on here about anyone getting pain from RT, in fact quite the reverse as it is given as a pain relief. My gut feeling is that this isn’t related to the PCa but maybe others will be along with better information. Make sure the oncology team are aware of everything.
Best wishes, David
Please remember that I am not medically trained and the above are my personal views.
Thanks for the reply.
Yep have made oncology aware although frustrated that review is still 6 weeks away. Their initial diagnosis after 3 days in resus, A&E and then assessment ward was pain post radiation/ ?pericarditis due to RT
As the pain is on same side as mestastes and metastases in thoracic spine could be causing rib pain.
I really want them to whole body re assess
