Saw the urologist this morning.

She went over my MRI results.

My nodules are still within the prostate gland.

She performed a DE and felt nothing wrong.

She will perform a biopsy on Dec 16th. She wants to see about the areas that are suspect...

She told me that I have a 91% of being non-cancerous, and 9% of being cancerous.

We will see...

Different forum, but I'm still worried about my left hip pain and my constipation going on almost 4 weeks now which might be due colon cancer.... I've been taking medications for it.  And still constipated.   My wife tells me I'm mad. I have a colonoscopy on the 12th.

  • Hello Harry (

Thanks for the update. 91% and 9%!! Are you sure you didn't see a bookmaker with those odds. Joy. Stick a tenner on the no cancer for me at 1/9 on!!

Seriously though I hope you feel better now and the prostate anxiety has died down. I wish you well with the biopsy.

I am sure the colonoscopy will give you some relief (no pun intended) with your other issues. A hint here is when you have to drink the laxative the day before it tastes like c*ap - drink it through a straw as you miss the taste.

For your information, here's our guide to the Prostate biopsy:

    Trans-perineal-biopsy.

(I must confess I do side with your wife Innocent)

    best wishes - Brian.

  • Smile Thank You, Bob...

The urologist did her calculation and she gave me those odds.... Thought it was a bit odd..

    But we'll see...

  • Good afternoon Harry. The Life time chance of developing Colon Cancer is 1 in 24 for a male person. Constipation as a single symptom is not considered Colon Cancer. When you had your enima's did they sample you stool for any sign of blood?. I personally still think your problem as far as constipation is concerned is Stress,

Were you going to the toilet normally before all this happened?

I've had 2 colonoscopy's in the past and can be very ucomfortable to say the least. You won't have any constipation problems the day before because you will sitting on the toilet most of the day. I hope you are not paying for the procedure as I believe you will be told you do not have Colon Cancer. I'm with your wife on this i'm afraid.                     All best Dave

  • Hello David,

    Thank you for your words.

I was fine before all this. But I've been taking so much laxative that the doctors have prescribed, I'm almost ill.

The last movement was a watery mess before this started. A tumor just can't close off your bowels all of sudden, right?

When the doctor administered the enema last Sunday night, what came out was dirty water with pieces of feces... I saw a couple of very thin stool.  They didn't test for blood. I checked for blood every I used the bathroom. I didn't see any blood in the toilet or on the paper..

I'm wondering if my hip pain is from my supposedly colon cancer that has metastasized to my hip which I wrongly attributed to PC..

I don't know what to think anymore

  • Hello Harry (

We don't have anyone medically trained on the Community But we do have the

    Ask a Nurse

facility. If you use it it may take up to 3 days to get a reply, and don't forget they have no access to your medical records.

My diagnosis for what it's worth:

    Hip Pain = Old age.

Constipation = Cause by stress and worry.

Aw we say in Lancashire - "thal be reet."

    Best wishes - Brian.

  • Hello Bob,

I clicked on the link, but I don't see where I can ask the nurse.

Is there somewhere I have to go to post my concerns?

  • Hello Harry (

It's open 9-5 Monday to Friday so the link will work Monday Morning.

    Kind Regards - Brian.

  • Hi Harry. My wife (who also thinks I'm a bit mad) was a nurse in her working life tells me laxitives etc. can seriously mess with your normal bodily function. When I first received the news I had a raised PSA (12.1) I too suffered from constipation. I got a bottle of Lactalose but decided not to use it and my bowel function returned to normal.   Many years ago when I was a Boy Scout we had a yearly Camp. Come the middle of the week away a few lads were given tinned prunes because they basically could'nt do the buisness which was almost certainly because they were Stressed being away from their home and family, It did'nt help we had to go in a trench dug out in the farmers field!!!!

I asked about testing blood in your doings because the testing lab can pick up a trace which cannot be seen with normal eyesight. That happened to me twice with colonoscopies which found 2 or 3 Polyps which are very common and were tested and found to be benign. As I said having a long garden hose with a light on the end of it was NOT a bundle of laughs. THe Colon does not have pain receptors but the air that's pumped in to clear the passage CAN give painful intermitent gripes. It can take around 45 minutes to do a full Scope.. Do'nt forget the day before clear out..

I wake up most days with painful hip or shoulder which wears off pretty quickly. I never thought for one moment it was anything to do with my Colon. It was on the back of my mind though with possible PC . Was relieved when my body scan came back as clear along with Pelvic Base, Nodes and Seminla Vesicles, Just the final diagnose grading to come from the biosy done 3 weeks ago...

    Cheers Dave

  • Thank You, Dave...

I just didn't  know that stress could control bowels movements.

I just went to the bathroom and out came about 2 inch long thin piece of feces... I'm worried again...
