Prostap Injections

Morning all, first time poster.

I am 6 treatments into 20 in total for my PC,  also some three months into hormone injections.

I attended my GP's (on a Friday) for the next due injection which was going to be a three monthly dosage. It would appear that some error occurred in the documentation of my last injection. This made the nurse cautious of dispensing the due injection and preferred to obtain guidance from a GP. This appointment was in the morning with my next radiotherapy in the early afternoon. I was informed that the GP would chase this up and get back to me later in the day. By 4pm still not heard anything, went to surgery to make enquiry, was informed that Urology had been contacted for advice and guidance, and as yet had not responded so would try again on Monday

So my questions are, any adverse effects for me in the delay to my injection, and any feeling either way in accepting a three monthly dose, or should I stick to a monthly dosage?

  • Hello

A warm welcome to the group - although I am sorry to find you joining us.

There's a continuing debate about HT injections - are they monthly, 3 monthly and 6 monthly or 4 weekly, 12 weekly and 24 weekly. Urology departments, GP's and the Patient information leaflets all have differing information.

The general opinion is +/- 3 days doesn't matter!!

Monthly injections are sometimes given to make sure you don'y have any adverse side effects and then they move you to 3 or 6 monthly injections. (having said that I was give a 6 month dose from the get-go!).

I hope the above helps, don't worry, enjoy the weekend and get back onto the GP Monday morning.

    Best wishes - Brian.
