l was diagnosed with prostate cancer around febuary 2025 my test was 32. l am on the usual medication [prostrap apalutamide] l was about to start RP this week but have had to put it on hold because two weeks ago l got a shadow on my left eye now l have hardly any sight in it. l have read that cancer sells start travling about the body l already have it in my bones and lymph nodes. Has anyone else had this happen? l am ok with dying of cancer [l am 70 years old] but not losing my sight that really does scare my, l have tryed closing my eyes to see what it would be like, no thank you.
Hello Billy - there are lots of different eye conditions that can affect us and they can be totally disconnected from the prostate cancer. My husband has an unconnected eye conditions. We initially did not realise that this was a major problem and did not seek medical help until the damage had been irreversibly done to his retina. Can I urge you to go to your nearest eye casualty asap to get this checked out? We initially went to a local optician who did an eye scan there and then. He literally told us no to go home, not to pass ‘go’ to collect £200 and to get straight to eye casualty. Sadly, the damage had already been done e. We are now terrified that the same will happen to the other eye.
I hope I have not panicked you but as you have found out, our sight is very precious. I also hope this is a ‘false alarm’ and you come away massively reassured!
Hello Billy (billy)
Welcome to the group although I am so sorry to find you here. I am aware you have spoken to one of our nurses earlier in the year.
Yes, the cancer can start to travel around the body so my advice if you have bot already done so is to contact your team and see (no pun intended!) if you can get an appointment with the nearest eye specialist in hospital - sight is very important and the sooner you find out the cause the better. I would urge you to do this TODAY.
Please do let us know how you get on.
Best wishes - Brian.

Hi Billy
I would say that the eye condition probably unrelated to the PC.
You need to see an eye specialist urgently though because dark shadows can mean a couple of things including detached retina although Im not saying that's the issue here.
But something like your issue needs treatment straight away.
All the best
Steve
Hi Billy
Sorry to hear about your diagnosis.
My psa was 3761 bone metastasis lymph nodes.
62 at the time May 23.
The oncologist said I will die but it won’t be from the cancer it will be from something else first.
Follow what Millibob advised see eye specialist nhs.
Youre going to be ok Billy ( Promise)
Arnie.
Hi Billy,
many High St opticians can refer you direct. In 2023 I had routine eye check at my local Specsavers (0930 Appt) - a detached retina was found - at 1130 I was on the train to Bristol eye hospital, with a referral letter. At 0830 the next morning a surgeon was putting my eye back together. I couldn't get back home and be back at the hospital by 0800 for the Op - so they gave me a bed at the eye hospital ! Brilliant treatment, 11 out of 10. My eye is fine now.
Hello Billy (billy)
I think the MRI scan will be to locate the spread of the cancer.
I am NOT medically trained but think the eye issue is something unconnected with PCa and as moonrakerz said above - a trip to the optician is a MUST. If not a trip to your GP or eye hospital.
Best wishes - Brian.
