How to possibly speed up a Prostatectomy

I read a comment from a member saying how long the waiting time was for a Prostatectomy.

i picked up an invaluable tip from another member when I was electing to go for the operation. In my Health Authority the waiting time for a Prostatectomy was 6-9 months.
But I had read a tip on the forum to make sure you tell the staff that you will take any cancellation and travel anywhere. By stating this I was referred to a neighbouring county.

i got my waiting time down from 6-9 months to 4 weeks by travelling. It was a 2 hour drive to and from the hospital but in my opinion it was worth it.

I just wanted to highlight this just in case it helps anyone else.

cheers Psticks

  • Thank you for the great advice

In fact if you are waiting for anything with a long wait - biopsy, MRI, CT Scan - almost anything. More often than not if you tell the team you can drop everything at a moments notice and take a cancelled appointment you will get one.

    Best wishes - Brian

  • How does this work though as the trust I was in didn’t even know what each other were doing let alone when surgery from another hospital would be available , who would it be that monitors this ?

It’s a shame that they don’t care to even try to implement the 62day RTT , my trust though was in the bottom 5 of worst providers in the UK that was published last week, makes sense now why I had such a nightmare with them from start to finish
